Welcome to our website!
Launched in January 2008 for junior lawyers across England and Wales, the JLD is a division of the Law Society with an independent voice. This division represents all student members of the Law Society enrolled through the SRA, trainees, and solicitors with up to five years' active PQE.

As your local JLD group our role is to facilitate the interaction of trainees in the local area. By organising various events, both social and career oriented, our aim is to provide trainees with a network of friends and future business contacts. The JLD is all about its community and their needs. To enable us to better represent you, we want to hear from you.

Email us
with your comments and suggestions.

Your JLD is a valuable link for trainees from smaller firms to meet and get to know other trainees and often provides a useful point of reference for the dissemination of legal information and experiences.

Research assistant vacancies
The Law Commission is a leading law reform body and is looking to recruit around 15 high quality law graduates to work as research assistants on a variety of law reform projects.

The application deadline is 31 January 2012. This is a prestigious post and valued by future employers of lawyers. There is considerable competition for appointments and the standard is high.

These posts are especially attractive to those who would like to spend a period working in a legal research environment between their university studies and the Legal Practice Course or Bar Professional Training Course, or between the academic stage of their professional education and a training contract or pupillage.

Eversheds launch 2 year LPC inclusive training contract
Eversheds are piloting a training contract that will allow students to enter the profession one year earlier. The two year contract will include a part-time LPC and the PSC.

For the unique scheme to run the SRA has had to waive two key policies for the first time. It will allow Eversheds to run a training contract in conjunction with part-time study over two years instead of the normal three and will also let trainees undertake the Professional Skills Course before full completion of the LPC.
